Looking back at my goals that I had for my Master's courses prior to beginning my first class, I realize how shallow my initial expectations were, and how much further I have come than I had ever expected.
As I finish up the work for my last two courses before receiving my Master's degree, I've realized that even though I have more options for the future than I did before, the paths that I'll take still seem hidden from me. This is a letter to my future self, as I try to give some advice and perspective in case my future self ever needs to remember how I felt at this transitional moment in my life.
The progress that I have made as an educator from my first day as a Master's student to the final day has been immense. Each of my classes has widened my perspective as a teacher and increased my knowledge about how to better teach my students. This essay reflects upon the courses which have had the biggest, most immediate impact upon my performance in the classroom. The courses that I have taken at Michigan State University have helped me traverse along the path from where I first began two years ago to where I hope to be in the future.
